Name: RAR Brewing Edward Hyde
Style: American Double IPA
“Mosaic, Simcoe and Citra Lupulin Powder”
I recently discovered this brewery through browsing beer trade sites when I had some extra Tired Hands that I thought someone should enjoy fresh. RAR Brewing is out of Cambridge Maryland and has quickly become my new favorite Maryland brewery. I have only had a couple of their beers so far and they have all been great, so when I had a chance to grab some fresh Edward HYDE DIPA I jumped on the opportunity. Let’s crack open this can and see how it tastes.
Poured the beer from a 16 oz. can into a Teku glass. It pours a light orange amber with about a 1/2 inch of white head. The nose has a fragrance of citrus and tropical notes consisting of tons of tangerine, mango and pineapple with a some of floral and light pine notes. The beer is light and clean with big tropical notes of tangerine, mango, pineapple and coconut on the tongue. Following the big tropical notes there are some light floral and pine that lead into nice malty flavors to balance everything out. The beer is a really crisp medium bodied DIPA that is incredibly balanced. The 9.2% ABV is well hidden with tons of flavor creating an impressively drinkable beer with tons flavor. RAR is an impressive new kid on the block at less than 5 years old, but they are brewing great beer and definitely worth a visit or trying to grab a can if possible. Cheers!
